Subaru Impreza Owners: This Is Your Forum

Photo: CC Paul Cook
Far and away, the most fanatical portion of the Subaru family is the Impreza crowd. When we began to explore the possibility of developing an EcoHitch for the 2015 Subaru WRX we discovered the North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club (NASIOC). A thread on their forum opened our eyes to what makes Impreza owners a breed of their own.

The thread, aptly titled Towing/Hitch thread, dates back to 2008, and as of today has over 177,000 views and 800 replies.  Here you’ll find 33 pages packed with photos of Impreza owners showing off how they like to Get Out and Go with their toys and outdoor gear.  You don’t have to be a trailer hitch enthusiast to admire the fun these Subie enthusiasts have with their cars.

We took notice and decided to dig deeper into the NASIOC forum to see just what Impreza owners want from a trailer hitch.  We found another jewel of a thread, entitled “Invisible Trailer Hitch Install on 2015 WRX”.

A user by the screen name of fredzy wanted to install a hidden trailer hitch on his 2015 Subaru WRX so badly, he purchased our EcoHitch for the 2012+ Subaru Impreza and jerry-rigged it to fit his car, taking care to detail the technical aspects of the job for publication on the forum.

Shortly after fredzy’s post, other users started requesting Torklift Central develop a proper EcoHitch fitment for the 2015 WRX – no other trailer hitch manufacturer offered one.

NAIOC members asked and we listened:

The North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club is a prime example of how auto enthusiasts can create and share in a culture all their own.  Take it from a bunch of trailer hitch geeks; whether you’re looking for Impreza technical advice, news, rally’s, or just to chat about your car, it’s hard not to find what you’re looking for at the NAIOC.

  1. A trailer hitch on my car was a make it or break it deal, I towed 2 Ducati's behind my 2006 STI, and I expected to do so behind the new 2015.
The dealership had no clue, but I had already found you on the interweb, and I gave them your particulars. Waiting for them to get the hitch in now, and install it.
