Now Available: Hidden EcoHitch for 2015 Subaru WRX

You asked for it and we built it. Torklift Central now manufactures the world’s first and only trailer hitch for the 2015 Subaru WRX.  Because the EcoHitch is completely hidden behind the rear fog-light knockout on the car’s bumper, we snapped a few pictures to prove it really does exist:

Available in 1¼” and 2” receivers, EcoHitch for the 2015 WRX is rated for 350lbs tongue weight and 3,500lbs towing weight. *  The 100% bolt-on installation requires absolutely no drilling to the car’s frame.  Housed behind the rear bumper, EcoHitch will not interfere with ground clearance and is designed to complement the underbody aerodynamics of the vehicle.

Installation is designed to be a simple and straightforward process that can be performed at home, at Torklift Central, or by a trusted installation shop.  Our support team is happy to recommend a quality installation provider in your area.

  1. would love to see how the receiver and pin would attach to the receiver and how you would access it since its behind the bumper . On the installation video, I see what may look as a chain loop to tie the chains but that too cant tell how to access. thanks. would help a lot to see how people can mount a bike rack or a receiver/trailer as well. THANKS.

    1. There are two ways to access the pin and receiver for mounting a bike rack and other accessories, as well as accessing the chain loops. For a complete explanation and pictures, please email us at support@tlcentral.com or call at 253-854-1832.

    2. as your instructions say, please make sure its installed by a trusted shop. Because this is different than most hitches -- this installation requires disassembly of the bumper area and making sure its back on correctly -- + the cutting and dremelling' of certain areas.

because of this, standard shops that just install hitches are a bit under-qualified. I don't know who I would trust to take it apart and do this work without me getting seriously worried about the assembly parts. for that , I am seriously wondering if this is worth it.

the concealed plus of this is outweighed by the complicated disassembly and finding a good place to do it (assuming most people would find the DIY instructions a bit overwhelming... )

    1. The bike rack pictured is from Yakima. It is designed to hold bicycles. You can view the rack on our website here: http://www.torkliftcentral.com/bicycle_racks.php. EcoHitch for 2015 Subaru WRX is rated for 350 lbs tongue weight, 3,500 lbs weight carrying. We always recommend checking your owner's manual to make sure you stay within the vehicle manufacturer tow ratings. We would also strongly suggest checking the weight of your dirt bike before purchasing or using any hitch mounted accessory to haul it.

    2. Do you recommend any single bike trailers that would work with this setup that can hold dirtbikes?

  3. Can the rear fog-light knockout panel pop back into place to conceal the hitch when not in use?

    1. Hi Terrence. Absolutely! The foglight knockout panel can be easily re-installed when the hitch is not in use making the EcoHitch completely concealed behind the rear bumper. With the knockout panel installed the car maintains its factory appearance.
