Get Out and Go Subie with EcoHitch!
Can the EcoHitch be installed on a 2015 Outback that has the silver rear bumper under guard from the factory? If yes, are there any pictures that you can post showing that installation?
ReplyDeleteYes, EcoHitch for 2015 Outback can be can be installed on vehicles equipped with the rear bumper under guard. You will want to trim this area with an air saw or utility knife to allow the hitch receiver to sit close to the bumper. We would post a picture for you here but are unable to attach images. If you would like send a request to ecohitch@tlcentral.com and we would be happy to send you the installation instructions - they include a picture of the area that you would trim on any variant of the 2015 Outback.
DeleteYou state that the EcoHitch does not affect ground clearance. What about rear departure angle? The OEM hitch seems to have minimal effect. Is the EcoHitch final position similar?
ReplyDeleteEcoHitch is designed to fit as snugly to the underside of the bumper as possible. The bottom of the hitch is 13.125” from the ground. Any impact on your rear departure angle is minimal.
DeleteFew questions:
ReplyDelete1. Is it same config for 2016? I got one on order and looking at 2" hitch options.
2. Do you have or plan to make a more detailed "how to" video? I can do oil, transmission, coolant changes but am a bit afraid to take off the bummer and brake some sort of a plastic pin/clip that is holding it. I need a more clear video of what needs to be removed and how to do it.
3. I checked your map and no one installs these within 500 miles. So it is me or try to find someone myself.
4. I read on online forums that you reduced the number of mounting holes with your 2nd version/design of this hitch for cost reasons. Are there plans to make the 1st version available again?
Thank you!
Thanks for reaching out to us. We have plans to confirm fitment of EcoHitch for 2016 Subaru Outback and if the current hitch does not fit we will develop a new fitment. Our installation videos show partial installation and we do not plan on filming more detailed “how to” videos at this time. If you’d like send a request to ecohitch@tlcentral.com and we would be happy to send you the complete installation instructions. Many of our customers that have less mechanical experience than you mention you have installed EcoHitch with no problem at all. If you prefer to not instal the hitch yourself we recommend contacting a local body shop to perform the install. We do not have plans to make the first design of the hitch again. Based on FEA (finite element analysis) from our engineering department we found that the additional attachment provided no additional strength or security to the hitch so we chose to remove it. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions - we are happy to help.
Deleteok. Thank you.
DeleteDo u get the same hidden look if you dont take the rear bumper off? Or is removing the rear bumper a must?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your inquiry. In order to achieve the hidden feature of the EcoHitch on the 2015 Subaru Outback, removing the bumper is required. For detailed information on the installation process, give us a call at 877-373-9195 or send a request to ecohitch@tlcentral.com -- we would be happy to send you the instructions for further review.
DeleteHave you confirmed this hitch will work on a 2016 Outback? Thanks
ReplyDeleteYes, we have confirmed fitment for the 2016 Subaru Outback. The link to the page can be found here.
Deletewhat about the eyesight system with the radar in the sides of the rear bumper? How do you deal with the R&R of that system?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your questions. The EcoHitch is centrally located when installed on the frame and the eyesight system is located on the outside corners of the Outback so it will not effect how the systems work. Please let us know if you have any further questions or contact us at (877) 343-6933.
